Body Trouble

Stephanie is collaborating with post-menopausal women artists, exploring ageing, loss, and transformation. Together they are creating new work that challenges invisibility and celebrates mature women's creativity.

Ageing is an important process but it’s also very annoying. We are a group of like-minded women artists in The Forest who together have been exploring how best to embody the trouble with our bodies.

In the first workshop we had an open discussion about fluids and how our bodies have given us and taken away from us. The ageing process has to be embraced although being in denial is an attrractive counter. We progressed on from this workshop with several others exploring skin, body, visibility and transformation through painting, drawing, sculpture, jewellery-making and more.

The intention is to exhibit small works from each of the artists in the spudWORKS Gallery in April and in Venice in September.
